Home Education Program Plan (HEPP)

A simple plan that outlines what your child will learn at home and how you’ll support that learning.

What is the HEPP?

The Home Education Program Plan describes your child’s learning goals for the year, the subjects you’ll cover, and the kinds of learning activities and resources you plan to use.

It helps families, facilitators, and the school stay aligned on expectations while still allowing flexibility for your home routine.

What the HEPP includes

  • Required by Alberta Education for home education students.
  • Defines key learning outcomes for the school year.
  • Lists resources and materials you plan to use.
  • Mandatory for blended homeschool registration with Al-Amal Online Academy.
📧
Submit your completed HEPP to:
al-amal.onlineacademy@plrd.ab.ca
Important note: Please submit your HEPP before your first facilitation meeting so it can be reviewed for Alberta Education compliance.

Evaluations

A clear three-step process that helps students share their learning and keeps families aligned with Alberta Education requirements.

1

Show and Tell

Students present their work, projects, and learning progress to their facilitator.

2

Facilitator Review

Outcomes are reviewed and assessed against Alberta Education regulations and program expectations.

3

Documentation

Evidence of learning is uploaded to Alberta Education and a copy of the documentation is shared with the family.
